The art: Finding the Spark

·

Sometimes, life gets away from us

It goes faster than anyone expects, with twists and turns that can be hard to navigate while you are in the midst of the fog.

Looking back, how is it that we get so carried away with the future or dwelling on the past?

The present quietly slips through our fingers.

Conversations with family, coffee with friends, slow moments with partners, all just get overlooked.

Time goes so fast that we miss the good parts of it, instead of slowing down and apprieciating every part of what it means to be a human. Yes we make mistakes, but we can not dwell on what we have done in our life.

Because time moves quick

Too quickly

And before we realise, the small moments become memories we never stopped to appreciate.

Admittedly, life got away from me too

The small moments

The times that help us to grow. All because my energy got poured into someone that didn’t want it.

When we care deeply about another person, it feels natural to help them. We want to understand them. To carry some of their weight. Sometimes, even when they don’t want us to.

Looking back, I realise that wasn’t sustainable

The energy I should of been pouring into me

Helping me to stop and enjoy the little moments that make me who I am. Looking back at that chapter in my life, it wasn’t all bad; there were good times, many good times that I overlooked as I was chasing a version of a person that didn’t exist.

The small moments of

  • Sunshine
  • Driving
  • Travel
  • Writing
  • Exploring

Simply enjoying my own company.

They didnt disappear because I stopped loving them

My attention was somewhere else.

Something that I will never understand is the way a person’s behaviour can change ours over time.

Slowly, like watching a candle burn out. It happens, but it’s not recognisable until the wax melts and the spark disappears.

Losing the spark that makes us who we are is the clearest sign that something maybe isn’t for us. The feeling of just not being the full version of you that once was. An emptiness that words can’t describe. that

Sometimes, distance is created because two people are no longer growing in the same direction. Whether that is through choice, timing, or circumstance, it can still hurt. But with time, hurt can turn into appreciation for the lessons that relationship gave us.

Something that we can’t complain about is being who we are. Because people should accept who we are, habits can change if we want them to – for love, friendship, ourselves, anything that truly matters to us, we can become better people.

But that spark is something that will never go away. It may get dulled for a period of time, and that is okay. But one day it will come back.

The spark

The spark is something inside of us that makes us feel alive.

A simple thing in our personality that is hard to explain, Everything that makes up our hobbies and lifestyle.

Is where the spark lives

Something that can be so easily dulled

When we don’t look after ourselves and move our energy outwards to others.

We pour our energy into people, expectations or responsibilities until there is very little left for ourselves.

We stop writing.

We stop creating.

We stop exploring.

Not because we dont love those things, our energy has been pulled elsewhere

That the right people will connect with us in a way that is not forced, like magnetism, that lets you keep that inner peace and fulfilment even if the road gets hard. Just appreciate you for who you are. ;

People who dim your spark, on the other hand, make everything feel forced, and your souls have to work that little bit, even a lot harder, just to be on the same wavelength. Sometimes something we hold onto gets the biggest spark when the hardest part is finished, as the other person wanted to work with you towards that mountain to get through anything.

Sometimes two people can care about one another and still struggle to understand each other. With different morals and values. It can feel like an imbalanced scale; one person may care more about one topic than the other and vice versa. This can be a beautiful thing if both partners want to experience everything together, but when one person doesn’t. It becomes too hard to hold onto; it comes down to your sanity vs the partnership.

But the funny thing with life is that there is always an upside to the lessons and growth we go through in life, whether it be finding the spark within yourself again, or the spark two people create and build together.

Remember, it all starts with self love
