3 reasons why traveling with mental health is very beneficial
Traveling with metal health can be stressful dealing with the packing and organizing before hand but it is rewarding to your wellbeing once you arrive in this new place as it can lead you to a new perspective of life. Such as stress relief, perspective and personal growth:
- Stress relief: Traveling can be amazing for stepping back from the daily routine and stressors. Traveling releases stress as by being in a new environment, scenery and activities. This can trigger the release of dopamine and serotonin hormones in the brain that can lead to being happier and less stressed while traveling.
- Perspective: Travel can help you gain distance and perspective, which can help you manage and cope with daily challenges. It can also help you process grief, loss, trauma, and mental health challenges.
When you travel, you are exposed to different cultures, beliefs, and ways of life. This exposure can help you gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the diversity of the world. It can also help you develop greater empathy for others, as you experience the struggles and joys of people from different backgrounds and cultures
- Personal growth: While traveling it can help you meet new people and adapt to new situations, which will make you more aware of the world around you and help you realise that everybody in the world has struggles and joys in their life, because everyone is human! This can help keep your mind sharp, increase creativity, and help you grow as a person.
Travelling can also open your heart to other ways of life such as spirituality, as it allows us to have a connection with something bigger than ourselves by truly feeling a sense of peace with the culture you have been immersed in. It also allows you to be more present in life than you me be in your home town and learn to appreciate the little things.

My story:
I have dealt with depression and anxiety for many years after a trauma that occurred when I was a adolescent. During that time I turned to spirituality to take me out of that dark hole that I had dug myself, the place that I lived in at the time was horrible it was a small town where everyone knew everybody and that did not help with the social anxiety.
During this time of spirituality, I liked to imagine what my life would be like travelling to different places because every time I left my hometown. I felt a sense of relief from the weight that had been placed on my shoulders.
After many years of hoping and praying for ore chances to travel, I moved out of that small town and got to travel more. As of know I travel 2-3 ties a year because I feel that it resets my body and I come back to my new home feeling like a different person.
So far I have visited 9 countries so far, but i have a problem with comfort. Therefore, I will travel back to one place many times before as it is where I feel most at peace. If you have read the other blog posts, the place of comfort is Copenhagen, Denmark, when I first travelled to this city, the weight was lifted from my shoulders.
Peace washed over me as I came into this city as the dreams an vision boards had come true. Emotions came to the forefront during this visit like all the struggle from over the years was being pulled out of me by a vacuum.
I felt like out of these many places that I have visited, this was where I belong and felt the most comfortable than ever before.
