Top attractions and landmarks

During my first visit to the beautiful Copenhagen, Denmark. The 3 day trip was packed with tourist destinations that have been on my Pinterest board since I was 13, see the blog post 6 ways I Manifested the path to my dream city. – travel blog.

DAY 1

To start the trip landing at the lufthavn (airport) and taking the train to Copenhagen central station- The station features a combination of traditional Danish and modern architectural elements, with a large, vaulted main hall. I travelled to the coco boutique hotel Vesterbrogade 41, 1620 København, Denmark

The hotel’s central location means that guests are within walking distance of popular sites like Tivoli Gardens, the National Museum of Denmark, and the vibrant Nyhavn waterfront. Winning the Best Hotel in Scandinavia in Travel+Leisure World’s Best Awards 2023.

During my first visit I went to Amalienborg palace, frederiks kirke, Rosenborg slot , Nyhavn, and Tivoli gardens.

Amalienborg palace and frederiks kirke: this palace is home to the royal family of Denmark and somewhere that I have dreamed of visiting for a long time. with the stunning architecture of the 4 buildings it is breath taking. Frederiks kirke is a church located near to Amalienborg palace, it is truly one of the largest churches I have ever seen. inside of the church it became even ore fascinating as it is covered with beautiful art work and statues.

DAY 2

Rosenborg slot: this is a renaissance castle located in Oster voldgade. This building was built to be a summerhouse for Christian IV in 1606 and is home to the crown jewels of the royal family.

Strøget: one of Europe’s longest pedestrian streets. Lined with shops, cafes, and historic landmarks, it offers a vibrant shopping and cultural experience in the heart of the city.

Nyhavn: one of the most popular tourist destinations in Copenhagen. A historic waterfront district, features colourful 17th-century buildings, vibrant restaurants, and picturesque canals, attracting tourists and locals alike.

DAY 3

Tivoli gardens: Tivoli Gardens, is one of the world’s oldest amusement parks, founded in 1843. Known for its beautiful gardens, thrilling rides, and vibrant entertainment, it offers a blend of traditional charm and modern attractions, making it a beloved destination for both locals and tourists.

Immersing in the Copenhagen culture

On my second trip to Copenhagen I decided to do things that the locals do. this visit was during the summer so a lot of y plans involved sitting round the harbour.

Day 1:

the flight landed early in the morning and this time I stayed in a hostel called City Hub in Vesterbro. It was extremely clean and the staff were very friendly, you get your own little pod and a shared bathroom plus sauna.

then I took a walk down stroget looked in the shops and went to the harbour. on the first day it was about 22 degrees, we found a little seating area and decided to sunbath for a few hours.

Day 2:

this day during my visit was the best. the river boat from Nyhavn goes to Refshaleoen at the other side of the harbour. my friend had found this beautiful bar at the harbour called La Banchina, we sat there for a few hours and they even persuaded me to go into the water. it was so cold.

Then we headed to Reffen an outdoor food court. this was my first time being here, there was Italian, Chinese, Indian you name it. Reffen had it. Reffen has a little beach area where you can sit and relax with your friends. after this we went back to Nyhavn and payed 243 kroner to go kayaking. this was beautiful as you sail down the little streets with beautiful houses. I will attach the map in the gallery to show you where we were meant to go. but we got lost.

day 3:

the final day, we just decided to chill this day. we took another walk down stroget going into new yorker, message, other stories and hue and into the little side streets to look in vintage stores.

we stopped at many joe and the juices to get iced matcha throughout the day and went for a lovely pizza at lunch time. at ni

We headed from marmorkirken to Frederiksberg alle, this trip was my first time on the metro and it is very easy one you figure out the zones. there are 4 zones in total, and for most you ay need to change across zones.

the metro map is attached in the gallery:

In conclusion, Copenhagen stands out as a beautiful and clean city that encapsulates the charm and sophistication of Denmark. Its picturesque streets, well-maintained parks, and eco-friendly initiatives make it a delight to explore. Denmark, with its rich culture, progressive values, and high quality of life, has earned a special place in my heart as my favourite country. When visiting Copenhagen, I’d rank iconic landmarks like the historic Nyhavn harbour, the stunning Rosenborg Castle,.. Each visit promises new discoveries and reinforces my admiration for this remarkable city and country.

where will you visit on your trip to Copenhagen?
