Do you dream of something more in your life?

I did, I always thought that my sadness would go away if I got everything I wanted.

since this month is depression awareness month, I thought I would share my story battling depression and how I overcome.

Depression is something that you can never really explain your sad but on a whole other level and you don’t feel like yourself. I struggled with depression since I was 13 but it wasn’t until last year when i was at my breaking point that i realised I needed more than a counsellor to help.

I went on medication and started to look into your mindset and how it has a massive impact on not just how you perceive life but how you feel physically, I read books like the mountain is you, 100 essays to change the way you think, the subtle art of not giving a fuck and you are a badass just to name a few. and these were eye openers, it took me in to a whole other level of being that I didn’t believe was possible. i meditate every day and i feel totally at peace.

of course i still want those things i thought would make me happy, but do i need them to happen in my life to make me happy. no. because I have found my own happiness within myself, I don’t let others dictate my mood, i am the only one that matters.

After discovering who I am, doing lots of inner child work, healing past trauma, calming my mind. I now know that i can create the rest of my life I don’t have to follow other people. I can be as loud and obnoxious as I want to be, because it doesn’t matter. once you get through the hardest part of being happy within yourself you discover that there are infinite possibilities in the world.

that leads me to. why I started this blog? I started this blog as I feel a strong connection to everyone out there struggling with depression or any other mental health issues. I feel I can be the change in the world. I want to help others, and with me not being there with you just now that these words I write on this page is a giant hug. you are doing okay, you are thriving, you are healthy, you have loved ones, look at the world around you and thing about the things you love in life. it is hard and I’m here with you every step of the way.

you don’t know who I am on a personal level but just give me an email and you can chat to a friend. A friend that you have never met, that you feel safer to share your thoughts and feelings with.

So please please please! begin this journey to happiness everyone deserves happiness in this lifetime

Once I read- when you are at the hardest point in your life it is the best version of you saying its time for a change.

here is everything that helped me:

meditation app: I got the balance app this time last year. it was probably one of the best decisions I’ve made,the meditation practises are amazing i done these before my bed almost everynight. this was the 5th meditation app that i tried because the rest wanted payment. with balance you get 1 year free.

Guided meditations: these are found on YouTube and as a beginner these were the best for getting me to calm my mind and relax my body.

exercise: I cannot stress this enough how much it helps to clear your mind. I love swimming, going to the gym, yoga and Pilates. i would go into the science behind it but lets not stress about that. email me if you want to know.

counselling: My last counsellor was a miracle worker, I swear he’s an angel. he helped me so much, but I’ve had 4 different counsellors so its trial and error. he inspired me to help people, that’s why I write this blog. shout out to you Paul xx

if you cant afford a counsellor there is charities that let you speak to a counsellor and you leave a donation
